Abolition Wisconsin

End sex trafficking by abolishing the demand.

All Things Are Possible #01

I’m taking the text directly from their website because they are a compelling example that All Things Are Possible.  This is the first blog entry among many to come that will say the same simple thing… there really is a way out of the deepest, darkest pit of sexual addiction.  There is Hope.

“The story of Be Broken Ministries began with the story of Jonathan & Elaine Daugherty. Their personal journey through the devastation of sexual addiction and brokenness led to the formation of the ministry. As healing began, first for Jonathan, and later for Elaine, they started to realize just how prevalent sexual brokenness was for families nationwide. Not wanting their healing to be in vain, they decided to begin reaching out to other men and their families who could benefit from the principles they learned on the journey to freedom and restoration. The road was difficult and painful, but the results have been worth every step. And it will be worth it for your family too…”

Abolition Wisconsin is all about disruption, intervention and eradication… but we’re not about destroying people.  We want to offer every buyer a way out to recovery and freedom!

Mapping the Sex Buyer Journey

Posted by on October 30, 2017 in CEASE Network

Bianca Morales-Egan and Angie Bayless coordinated city-wide activities focused in part on commercial sex demand reduction for San Diego and Phoenix respectively via the four year CEASE Network (Cities Empowered Against Sexual Exploitation) initiative.

In the process, they investigated the significant cultural and social forces that shape the process from the lens of the “buyer journey” a marketing concept used by companies to improve the effectiveness of their product marketing.  This work identified key points for intervention and deterrence, including tactics already developed, tested, and refined by members of the CEASE Network.  Bianca and Angie make an argument in this webinar for the importance of a multi-sector approach.

Get educated on what it will take to end sex trafficking by abolishing the demand!

The long road down…

It’s a long blog but a very important one in the conversation around why men buy sex.  Gene McConnell shares his life journey with Benji Nolot of Exodus Cry and gives us a framework for how to shift our hearts and thoughts about  the men who are caught in this destructive web of deceit.

Listen to it here and let us know what you think!

Mobilizing at City Church this Sunday

City Church has given us some time to present the work of Every Daughter, a direct outreach to women in the life, and make a pitch for men to mobilize and join Abolition Wisconsin in prayer and a direct intervention with men who purchase sex online.  Thank you to the leadership of City Church for opening a door for faith based communities in Greater Madison to get involved.

Our kick-off event is this coming Wednesday, 23 May from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Use the contact form on our site to let us know you’re coming and we’ll reply with more detailed information on the location and agenda.

If your group is interested in contacting us to make a presentation please use the same contact form to let us know in the comment section.

Backpage.com shut down by FBI

An online website, notorious for hosting ads advertising women and children for sex has been seized by federal agencies this week.  According to a report released by a U.S. Senate subcommittee in early 2017, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children‘s data indicates that 73 percent of the child-trafficking reports it receives were related to Backpage.com. (azfamily.com, accessed 4/7/2018).

Congress recently passed the Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act, meant to crack down on sex trafficking of children.  The legislation holds internet sites liable for users who post ads on their sites for sex trafficking.  Craigslist.net shut down a similar section of their website on March 23 citing concerns that their services would be legally jeapordized under the new legislation.

I applaud the move on the part of Congress and the federal law enforcement agencies who conducted the operation… but most of all the 17 victims who persevered through years of failure to obtain justice under a convoluted interpretation of protected free speech used by the owners of Backpage.

Now a call to all men to end trafficking by ending the demand.  We need to have the hard conversations with each other about why some of us make the decision to purchase someone’s life for an instant of destructive selfishness!

St. Patrick’s Day 2018

“…can it be out of the kindness of my heart that I carry out such a labor of mercy on a people who once captured me…? For by descent I was a freeman… yet I have sold this nobility of mine, I am not ashamed, nor do I regret that it might have meant some advantage to others. In short, I am a slave in Christ to this faraway people for the indescribable glory of everlasting life in Christ.”  St. Patrick

Appropriate that St. Patrick speaks to us these centuries later about engaging the very perpetrators of trafficking.  If you’re interested in joining us to pray, intercede and get God’s heart about this issue Contact us.

Kingdom Justice Summit 2018

We are joining Every Daughter at the Kingdom Justice Summit today.  This event, hosted by Door Creek Church, Selfless Ambition, Zion City Church, and Upper House gives us a venue to invite men and women to go around doing good in Madison and beyond.

More to come…

Demand Abolition

Dormancy doesn’t mean inaction… something is actually getting formed in that cocoon or maybe that seed is just waiting for Spring!  Here’s some of the things forming in the waiting over the past year and a half:

  • Every Daughter is reaching exploited women directly in the Greater Madison area.  They offer a listening ear, practical resources and a way out of CSE (Commercial Sexual Exploitation).
  • bigbighouse is carefully forming a plan to confront the demand for paid sex and get good men involved directly to intercept buyers.  We’re talking to EPIK , a banner organization doing just that, asking them what it looks like for us to get involved.  Check back; we’ll have more details this Spring.
  • Zeteo Community is setting up a safe place where women leaving CSE can restore away from the darkness and chaos.

Thank you for tracking with us!

Keeping the Flame in 2016

Once again, without giving up or giving in, we’re holding the flame for marching in 2017.  Start checking back around Valentine’s Day 2017 for the run up to our Madison St. Patrick’s Day Parade event.

Benjamin Franklin wrote in 1789 regarding abolition, “Slavery is such an atrocious debasement of human nature, that its very extirpation, if not performed with solicitous care, may sometimes open a source of serious evils.”

Let’s get the job done thoroughly, Wisconsin.

Contending For The Future In 2015

Without giving up or giving in, we’re not going to march this year, but anyone who reads this and cares about the abolition of all trafficking in Wisconsin is encouraged to volunteer at the Madison St. Patrick’s Day Parade THIS Sunday.  Fill out the Volunteer Registration Form, scan it and send it in by TOMORROW.

See you there or see you next year to MARCH!
